Depression is a serious condition that affects mood, thoughts, and behavior, but it's treatable. It can bring sadness, anxiety, and loss of interest, harming life, work, relationships, and health, too.
Mary Hayley graduated from the NYU Graduate School of Social Work in 1998 and began her career at a community mental health clinic. Driven by a passion for treating severe emotional disorders, she pursued advanced training at multiple psychoanalytic institutes. Her dedication culminated in earning a doctorate in psychoanalysis in 2008.
With more than two decades in private practice, Mary has studied closely with senior analysts whose mentorship has shaped her therapeutic style. Her approach is grounded in psychoanalytic depth while also being warm, practical, and supportive. Clients trust her for her ability to listen attentively, understand complex struggles, and guide them through meaningful change.
Mary provides individual, couples, and group psychotherapy, with the belief that group work can often enrich and deepen individual treatment. Her areas of expertise include:
Anxiety and persistent worry
Depression and mood-related challenges
Loss, grief, and major life transitions
Addiction and recovery support
Relationship difficulties and loneliness
Mary’s integrative approach combines rigorous psychoanalytic training with compassionate presence. She is committed to helping clients untangle difficult emotions, improve relationships, and move toward greater resilience and well-being.
