About Us

WHO WE ARE

A Cooperative of Licensed Therapists

At NYC Psychotherapy Cooperative, we are more than individual practitioners—we are a collective of licensed and experienced psychotherapists who bring decades of expertise to the people we serve. Each member of our team brings unique training and perspective, from psychodynamic therapy and psychoanalysis to family systems and evidence-based approaches. Together, we create a safe, welcoming environment where clients feel genuinely seen and supported. Our cooperative model allows us to share knowledge, consult with one another, and bring the best of our combined experience to every client relationship.

WHAT WE DO

Personalized Therapy For All

We provide psychotherapy tailored to the unique needs of each client, helping individuals, couples, and families navigate emotional challenges and life transitions. Our services address concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, self-esteem struggles, grief, and relationship difficulties. For couples and families, we focus on improving communication, repairing strained bonds, and creating healthier dynamics. Every session is paced according to your comfort, with strategies designed to bring both insight and practical change. Whether in-person at our NYC office or through secure telehealth sessions, we strive to make therapy both accessible and impactful.

WHY WE’RE DIFFERENT

Collaborative, compassionate care — backed by a whole team

What sets us apart is not just warmth, it’s structure. As a cooperative, our therapists do something relatively rare in private practice: they consult with each other, regularly and deliberately, as a core part of how they work.

This means your therapist is never working in isolation. When complex clinical questions arise, a treatment impasse, a shift in the therapeutic relationship, an ethical consideration,  they bring it to colleagues with different training, backgrounds, and clinical perspectives. The result is care that draws on collective expertise, not just individual judgment.

We go beyond surface-level solutions by exploring the roots of emotional challenges, building resilience, and creating real, lasting change. Our approach is warm and professional: we listen deeply, respect your story, and partner with you. We just happen to have more support behind us than most practices can offer.

about

Multiple Perspectives on Your Care

When a clinical question arises, your therapist has colleagues to consult, each with different training and experience. Your situation benefits from a breadth of perspective that solo practitioners simply can't provide alone.

Built-In Ethical Oversight

Complex decisions, about treatment direction, boundary questions, or risk, are never made in isolation in our practice. Collegial review happens naturally and promptly, because it's structural, not optional.

Always Confidential

Consultation never compromises your privacy. Only the clinical details necessary for discussion are shared, never your name or identifying information. Every member of our cooperative is bound by the same ethics codes and HIPAA protections as your therapist.

THE COOPERATIVE ADVANTAGE

Three Reasons our Structure Makes your Therapy Better

Three reasons our structure makes your therapy better

Regular peer consultation is clinically proven to reduce blind spots and prevent the drift that can occur in long-term individual practice. Your therapist keeps growing, and so does your therapy.

Treatment That Doesn't Get Stuck

Progress stalls sometimes. In a cooperative, a colleague's perspective can unlock an impasse that a solo practitioner might miss for months. Your momentum matters to us, and we have the structure to protect it.

Therapist Wellbeing, for Your Benefit

Isolated clinical work leads to burnout. Our cooperative model means your therapist has genuine peer support, protecting the emotional presence and attunement that make therapy work for you.

OUR SERVICES

Compassionate Therapy Tailored To Your Needs

Depression

Depression is a serious condition that affects mood, thoughts, and behavior, but it's treatable. It can bring sadness, anxiety, and loss of interest, harming life, work, relationships, and health, too.

Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder, including Bipolar I and the milder Bipolar II, brings intense mood swings that may disrupt daily life. Supportive psychotherapy and medication can help manage symptoms.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a feeling of fear, dread, and uneasiness that can leave you restless and tense. It may cause racing thoughts, trouble concentrating, and disrupted sleep; it can be understood and treated.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

PTSD involves intrusive thoughts, feelings, and dreams long after trauma. You may relive events via flashbacks or nightmares, feel fear or anger, detach or dissociate, and feel estranged or unsafe.

Trauma/Difficult History

Trauma arises from exposure to distressing or life-threatening events. Its impact can linger, affecting mental, physical, social, and emotional well-being, and influencing daily functioning in lasting ways.

Self Esteem

Low self-esteem can deeply affect quality of life. Constant self-criticism and negative self-talk often fuel anxiety, sadness, depression, anger, shame, or guilt, making daily life more difficult.

Couples, Marriage Counseling

Couples therapy supports partners in addressing conflict and rebuilding connection. It fosters healthier communication where it has broken down and helps restore openness, trust, and stronger relationship functioning.

Family Therapy

Family therapy helps families improve communication and resolve conflict with a therapist’s guidance. It surfaces long-standing patterns, builds healthier boundaries, and strengthens trust at home.
